INTRODUCING SEVEN DAY RAIN
Seven Day Rain plays various forms of jazz-rock that range from downtempo tunes to
high-energy pieces and exotica. The original band featured Jeff Taschner on keyboards and flute, Mark Walczynski on bass guitar, Ray Rideout on saxophones and Ken Lotz on drums. Jeff, Mark and Ken all played with Milwaukee progressive rock band Night Tales. Mark and Jeff also played with the avant-rock group Kafka, both groups featuring guitarist Jack Juraska, who co-composed The Nth Dimension with Mark and Jeff during their time with Kafka. It must be noted that Mark and Ken provided the rhythm section for ex-Caravan singer/bass player Richard Sinclair when he performed in Milwaukee in 1990. These two also went on to record and release albums on Mello Records under the names Nightales and Paragone. Ray Rideout has led numerous Milwaukee and Madison-area jazz outfits, often playing with Wes Montgomery's organist Mel Rhyne, as well as bass player Gerald Cannon, who later went on to become McCoy Tyner's musical director. Ray's original music can be heard on the CD La Paz En El Corazon.
"... A lush, psychedelic odyssey of drums, bass, keyboards, and sax, it hearkens back to the electrified drive of Weather Report and Soft Machine. Expansive, spacey, and propulsive...jazz on the cosmic scale." Review by Ben Gibbons - Bored in Pittsburgh
